McCann and McCann were established in August 1980 by two cousins, Sean and Jim McCann. Since then the firm has flourished to be one of Belfast's most established and well regarded law firms. Our litigation department has expertise in all areas of personal injury and specialises in medical negligence claims. We have vast experience in both the county court and high court and have been involved in many major settlements.

Our criminal department provides a 24 hour service for those in need of advice in a Police station and provides representation in all tiers of criminal courts, from magistrate’s court, crown court through to the Court of Appeal. We have also been involved in cases before the Supreme Court (formerly the House of Lords). The firm has a number of qualified Solicitor Advocates who provide specialist advocacy in the Crown Court.

Our family department provides a confidential, sympathetic professionalism to help clients through, what can be very difficult, family and child cases.

We were involved in representing an injured party before the Saville Inquiry (The Bloody Sunday Inquiry), and were also involved in the Hyponatraemia inquiry into hospital negligence.
